Which crypto exchange has the lowest fees to buy Bitcoin?

Enter an amount in EUR or USD and see exactly how much of it goes to fees on three MiCA-licensed exchanges, and how much Bitcoin that actually leaves you with, using a live market price.

This page compares only the Convert option (instant conversion), the most expensive way to buy Bitcoin but also the simplest, which is exactly why beginners use it so often. Our goal here is to calculate and compare the real cost of that Convert option across MiCA-licensed exchanges.

How each fee is calculated

Every exchange here charges a straightforward formula: a percentage of the amount you spend, plus a flat fee on top for any exchange that charges one. Figures below use the €1,000 default amount.

These percentages are not copied from a published fee schedule. Each one is measured from two real prices read directly off the exchange itself, not a fee page. The section below explains exactly how.

  • OKX: 1.97% of the amount. €1,000 × 1.97% = €19.70
  • Bybit: 2.68% of the amount. €1,000 × 2.68% = €26.80
  • Crypto.com: 2.78% of the amount. €1,000 × 2.78% = €27.80

How do we verify these conversion costs?

Every fee percentage on this page comes from comparing two real, live prices from the same exchange at the exact same moment. That is the only way to see the true cost of an exchange's Convert (Instant order) option, since almost none of them label this markup as a percentage fee anywhere on their own site.

  1. 1. Fund the account. We use €1,000 available on the exchange, the same reference amount used throughout this page.
  2. 2. Open Convert and Spot side by side. One window shows the Convert (Instant order) screen quoting how much BTC €1,000 buys. A second window shows that same exchange's own Spot trading price for BTC/EUR at that same moment.
  3. 3. Compare both prices at once. The gap between the Convert quote and the Spot price, captured in the same instant, is the exchange's real markup. Turning that gap into a percentage of the amount spent gives the fee shown above.

We pay from the exchange's own EUR balance wherever that option exists, so the number reflects the exchange's own markup rather than a card or wallet provider's surcharge on top of it. If an exchange offers no balance option on its simple Buy screen, we use whatever it does offer and note that.

This method only covers each exchange's Convert (Instant order) option, never order-book (limit or market) trading, which usually works differently and can be cheaper. Each number is a real, dated reading for a €1,000 purchase, not a live feed, so treat it as a starting comparison and always confirm the current rate on the exchange's own site before you buy.

FAQ

Which crypto exchange has the lowest fees?

As of 13 September 2026, OKX has the lowest fee among the three exchanges compared here for a €1,000 purchase, at 1.97%. This changes as spreads move, so use the live calculator above to check the ranking for your own amount.

What is the cheapest way to buy Bitcoin?

Using whichever exchange's Convert option currently has the lowest markup, shown ranked above, is the simplest cheap way to buy Bitcoin. Placing a limit order on an exchange's own order book instead of using Convert is usually cheaper still, but takes an extra step and is not what this calculator measures.

How is the Bitcoin purchase fee calculated?

Each percentage is measured from the exchange's own Convert (also called Instant order) screen: enter a fixed amount, compare the crypto it quotes back against that same exchange's live spot price at that moment, and the difference is the fee. The fee is taken out of your purchase amount at the moment you buy, so it is the remainder, not the full amount you typed in, that actually goes toward Bitcoin.

Does this cover order-book trading, or spreads and network fees?

This calculator only covers each exchange's Convert (Instant order) option, the simplest way to buy Bitcoin with EUR or USD. Convert already builds its markup into the quoted price, so that markup is exactly the fee percentage shown above, not something separate or additional. Placing a limit or market order on the exchange's own order book (its Trade or Pro section) works differently and is usually cheaper, but this calculator does not cover it. Card-payment surcharges and blockchain network (withdrawal) fees are also separate and not included, so always check the exchange's own fee page before you trade. The BTC amount shown here uses a live reference price from CoinGecko (or Bitstamp if that is unavailable) to estimate what you would receive, which can differ slightly from the exact price an individual exchange executes your Convert order at.

How often is this fee data updated?

The three fee rates above are entered and checked manually, not pulled live from the exchanges. They were last checked on 13 September 2026. Rates change without notice, so treat this as a starting comparison and confirm the current number on the exchange's own fee schedule before buying.
