What is Bitget EU, and is it the same as Bitget?
No. Bitget EU is the Vienna-based applicant. Bitget's notice of 2 July 2026 treats it separately from Bitget Global, whose existing customers stay under Bitget's Terms of Use, and the Terms name BTG Technology Holdings Limited as the platform operator. In January 2026 the head of Bitget EU said it would not offer services in the EEA before authorisation and that existing EEA users would be invited to move over afterwards. Statements on timing differ: that interview described the application as filed in 2025 with approval expected in Q2 2026, while Bitget announced the filing on 17 June 2026.

What happens to my funds on Bitget?
Bitget says funds remain safe and can be verified on its site, and that access stays subject to its Terms (notice of 2 July 2026). Only France has a published exit procedure: no new orders or deposits from 16 March 2026, positions liquidated on 31 March 2026, and unwithdrawn balances above 10 USDC moved to an authorised third-party platform. For other countries Bitget has announced nothing similar so far. Check the notices in your account. Moving assets to a wallet you control or to an exchange listed in the ESMA register is your decision. This is not financial advice.

Will Bitget get a MiCA license, and when?
Unknown. MiCA gives the regulator 25 working days to check that an application is complete and 40 working days from a complete file to decide, and the decision clock can pause for up to 20 working days when information is missing (Article 63). Incomplete files do not start the clock, so the calendar time can be much longer. In January 2026 the head of Bitget EU expected approval in Q2 2026, which has not happened. We check the ESMA register after every update and this page changes when Bitget EU appears in it.

What this means if you are in the EU
MiCA is the EU regulation that governs crypto-asset service providers (CASPs). To legally serve clients in the EU/EEA, an exchange needs a CASP authorisation from a national regulator, which is then listed in ESMA's central register. Bitget is not in that register, so it is not currently MiCA-authorised.
National transition periods ended on 1 July 2026. Since then, only CASP-authorised firms may serve EU clients. If you use an unlicensed exchange you may have weaker consumer protections, and access can be restricted at any time. Learn more about what a CASP / MiCA license is.
